Mechanic II
Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Station Foreman, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanic II with extensive experience working on compressors. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities and the versatility to operate and maintain an entire compressor station. This is a hands-on role for a dedicated professional who takes ownership of their work, thrives in challenging environments, works well with others, and has the experience and confidence to keep critical compression equipment operating safely and performing routine mechanical maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, maintain and oversee Caterpillar 3516 natural gas engines.
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on Ariel JGE/4 compressors and related equipment.
- Operate and maintain compressor station systems, ensuring safe and reliable performance.
- Work with natural gas, dehydration units, JT skids, and associated production equipment.
- Conduct pigging operations and pipeline-related maintenance activities.
- Respond to emergency callouts and equipment failures, including after-hours and overnight situations.
- Perform preventative maintenance and identify potential issues before they become catastrophic failures.
- Maintain accurate service records and communicate effectively with operations personnel.
- Follow all High River Resources safety standards, operational rules, and workplace procedures.
- Properly care for and use company-issued tools and technology (vehicle, phone, computer, etc.).
- Carry out additional responsibilities or special tasks assigned by the Foreman or Operations leadership.
Required Skills/Requirements:
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and operational issues independently.
- Strong understanding of natural gas compression, dehydration systems, and JT skids.
- Willing to work rotating schedules, remain on call, and respond to emergencies at any hour.
- Works well within a team and contributes to meeting production goals and cost objectives.
- Demonstrates strong character, dependability, clear communication, and a positive attitude.
- Comfortable in a fast-moving field environment where priorities can change quickly.
- Possesses basic computer knowledge and is able to learn new digital tools or software.
- Keeps work areas clean, organized, and safe at all times.
- Attention to detail and strong time management skills.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license; CDL is beneficial and may be required at certain sites.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Willing and able to work overtime when necessary and participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
- Record keeping and data entry while on-shift, operational notes and reports, and participation in on-site safety meetings and drills are required.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational training, technical certifications, or industry-related coursework are preferred.
- Experience with oilfield or industrial equipment operations and maintenance is highly preferred
Physical Requirements:
As part of the job description, mechanics much be able to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50lbs. Mechanics must also be physically capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions and performing tasks that may involve climbing, kneeling, bending, working overhead, entering confined spaces, and standing for extended periods. Must be able to operate a vehicle, a forklift or other light industrial equipment.
The work required for this position cannot be performed remotely. Mechanics are required to live within a reasonable distance to the field.
