Revenue Accountant

This role is responsible for production allocation, monthly revenue distribution, royalty and working interest owner payments, and related regulatory reporting. The right candidate will be comfortable working with production and revenue data across multiple properties, partnering closely with engineering and the broader accounting team, and communicating directly with royalty and working interest owners as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Allocate and manage the production database for an assigned portfolio of properties, working closely with engineering to research and resolve production discrepancies
  • Allocate monthly revenue to wells across assigned properties and ensure data flowing through the system is accurate and complete
  • Process royalty and working interest owner payments and research and resolve discrepancies in owner-level data
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations, including cash-to-revenue as well as other revenue and royalty accounts
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory reports, including production, severance, royalty, and tax filings, and where applicable state, federal, and tribal agencies
  • Research and resolve owner inquiries regarding revenue payments and statements
  • Support internal and external audit requests related to revenue and production accounting
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects as needed

Required Skills:

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables; advanced skills a plus
  • Adept multi-tasker with the ability to juggle frequently shifting priorities
  • Ability to focus on the task at hand; skilled problem solver
  • Self-motivated with the initiative to consistently understand and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 2+ years of accounting experience; upstream oil and gas or public accounting (auditing/assurance) experience preferred but not required
